Our Story

Fresh Air Since
1995
More and more appliance dealers, designers, builders, and homeowners are coming to appreciate what Trade-Wind has long known: Cooking ventilation matters.

Coupled with effective filtration, powerful and consistent air circulation keeps grease from depositing on rangetops and counters. It ensures indoor and outdoor air—so important for our health and well-being—remains clean, fresh, and free of harmful gasses and particulates. Finally, it removes airborne aromas that, left to disperse and settle, can quickly become distasteful and overstay their welcome.

Few understand this better than Mark Hallett. By the time he acquired the more than 70-year-old ventilation brand in 1995, he had earned distinction as the top appliance sales manager at a major American manufacturer, managing employees from southern California to Las Vegas. Early on, he came to embrace the value of performance, quality, and customer service. These three pillars guide the design and manufacturing of every range hood, insert, and outdoor grill hood Trade-Wind produces.

The Art + Science of Our Craft

People Come First

At Trade-Wind, the most valuable asset is its people. Many Trade-Wind staff members have worked for more than a decade, starting in entry-level roles in the warehouse or shipping department and advancing, though training and mentorship, to upper-level management roles.

A compassionate, family-friendly culture permeates the organization at all levels, borne of Mark Hallett’s conviction that a healthy work-life balance generates better products and happier, more productive employees.

In a business where people truly do come first, all seven of Hallett’s children have worked at Trade-Wind. His daughter, Charlotte Little is Vice President of Administration. His son, Cheldon Hallett from an entry-level position on the manufacturing floor to become Vice President of Operations.

It’s a story repeated time and again at a company, in which dedicated, on-the-job training and mentorship, paired with Hallett’s unqualified belief in human potential, has provided competitive wages and a path to success for workers from an array of diverse backgrounds.
